Omega Alpha International has been a long time ministry partner with Outreach To Africa. OTA has established a life center in Fort Portal Uganda, which is on the western side of the country. Recently OTA constructed a school for orphan children and we anticipate the school will conduct classes beginning with the February 2009 term. This facility will serve as both a day school and boarding school for some 320 elementary students. We have also been a part of opening another clinic in Fort Portal specializing in diagnostic procedures. Services include: X-ray, ultrasound, pharmacy, laboratory and medical consultation. In addition to the school and diagnostic center in Fort Portal a medical center has been established in the town of Rwebisengo, which borders the Democratic Republic of Congo and has a population of about 30,000. There are a large numbers of refugees who fled the Congo due to the ethnic warfare living in this village as well. The nearest hospitals to this village are in Fort Portal town - 45 miles away. It is a 3-hour drive on a dry day and several more when it rains due to bad roads. Outreach to Africa has rented a 19-bedroom motel and turned it into a medical center equipped with a laboratory, pharmacy, maternity and private rooms for general patients. We treat approximately 5,000 patients and deliver 300 babies a year.
